| The arm is placed parallel to the body and does not need to be in abducted position as previously recommended. The arm of the patient needs comfortable support. This is best achieved by placing an additional supporting arm board under the patients mattress. This arm board is custom made by Philips and is radiolucent. |  |
| To keep the wrist extended a supporting cushion is placed under the patients arm. |
